Durham International Brass Festival celebrates brass music from around the world. Now in its eighth year the festival hosts performances across County Durham that combine traditional and emerging brass-inspired music.
I will be filming, editing and producing a series of micro-documentaries over the coming months featuring musicians, performers and organisers as they prepare for the festival.
I have already begun shooting the first film on my new AF101 camera which will feature electronica act Winter North Atlantic working with some of the North East's top brass players. Together they will create a collection of new tunes that will be played at the opening night of Brass on July 1st .
I will also be covering the event itself and producing and uploading a series of short films that highlight the very best of the festival as it takes place.
Having filmed, edited and produced a DVD for BRASS 2010, I am really excited to be involved with the festival once more. It is one of the most eclectic events that I have filmed and really opened my eyes to the wide variety of brass inspired music that is being produced around the world.
I am going to be uploading the films on a regular basis to Youtube and other social media sites. I will also be encouraging people to join my "Flashmob Film Crew" during some of the Streets of Brass events and to film and upload their own footage for me to include in a series of mashup edits.
